We took a day trip out to Inveraray to see this iconic castle. We took the bus from Glasgow [after taking the train from Edinburgh] and got off in Inveraray [overall the journey was about 2 1/2 hours]. Inveraray Castle is just a short 10-15...More

The setting is beautiful. The outside is romantic. The inside is amazing with all the decor. It's especially nice that you can take pictures inside! We very much enjoyed our visit. Be sure and wander the nature path around the grounds.

Visited this castle due to Downton Abbey of course. It is a nice castle but we where a little disappointed as we might have expected more in regards to exhibition or castle history. Anyway, it is beautiful and the gardens around also. Would still recommend...More

Our visit to this castle far exceeded any expectations we had. Beautifully laid out with both old and new artefacts (we especially liked the family pictures which managed to give the castle a modern and family feel), the castle is great to explore. Being a...More

While not cheap to get into, the castle is spectacular! After walking around the gardens and the woodland, we ventured into the castle. Met at the door by what I fully expected to be grumpy members of staff, I was pleasantly surprised when they engaged...More

Stunning castle with a big garden. The interiors are the best you can find in Scotland. Have a look to my pictures.

Interesting and non typical design Scottish Castle. Home to Clan Campbell and with a long history. The Castle tea rooms are good and i recommend the homemade scones with cream and Jam! Worth a visit if you are in the area.

Being of the Clan Campbell I had to visit Inveraray Castle. It is a bit small but rich with history. There is a quaint town within walking distance. It is steeped in history. I would suggest setting aside 2 to 3 hours to view it...More

Personal opinion - I think the castle is nicer inside than out. Beautifully decorated rooms and ceilings and interesting objects to view. Good history of the Campbells. The exterior stonework is a bit grey and dull. The gardens, both formal and the informal woodland walk,...More

My memory is that you paid as you entered the parking lot. Not sure if you could enter the grounds for a lower price or not. I will say the interior is amazing and worth the price!
