This is one of our favourite walks and never disappoints. The weather on this occasion was superb and the views were wonderful.

Exhilarating

The wildflowers were in profusion. This is a beautiful but sometimes precarious walk. The path is very narrow and difficult in some places. The scenery over the cliffs is spectacular.
The dog had to be kept on the lead as she might have jumped over the cliffs after the seabirds.
Auchmithie is a small historical hamlet with no shop and nowhere to get a cup of coffee if you have a dog.
It was worth walking as we managed to get a bus back to Arbroath. If there had been no bus we would have had to return the way we came as the main road eas too dangerous for walkers.

Just LOVE this walk. Always something new to find

Have walked this coastal path many times on visit to Arbroath and never tire of it; stunning scenery and wildlife!!

Despite walking many times even found a cave we have missed on previous walks!! Driven into a large sea cave years ago when sea safari operated (no longer do) and this land / beach cave was impressive.

If going with dog or young kids I’d keep a close eye on them (dogs on lead) on cliffs as they can be dangerous with large steep drops in places but as long as you stick to the man made path it’s safe

A must walk when in Arbroath.

One of the most peaceful places I ve visited with such friendly people. The accomodation and the food were delicious. They have the most amazing landscape and the best fish restaurant I ve ever been. I strongly recommend.

Superb Views.

We have enjoyed this walk for many years now and can't get enough of the scenery. Auchmithie is a charming little fishing village but is currently being modernised, so I hope the charm will remain. Arbroath on the other hand is a busy fishing port. This walk is highly recommended for visitors to the area but be sure to wrap up in warm clothing as it can be quite exposed.

Auchmithie Bay
Jul 2020
Walked down to Auchmithie Bay. Amazing views. The tide was out so we were able to explore the caves. Kids loved the caves. Saw the NHS heart for the covid pandemic. Very sad. Shame the harbour is being destroyed bit by bit by the sea.

Beautiful views
Jun 2019
Walked in each direction at different times.Spectacular views of the cliffs, remembering to stay away from the cliff edges as you do so. Seeing the shapes made by the waves.
You can take part in fishing from the various places along the way, if you are inclined, but take great care.
From the top of the cliffs you have a wonderful view of the wildlife, different seabirds which colonise the cliff face and grassy knolls etc. You will see the 200+ year old Bell Rock lighthouse which is 12 miles from Arbroath. The Signal Tower Museum, situated near the harbour holds information about this, as well as history of the town etc.
