It was very surreal to stand here and reflect on the atrocities that took place here. The names and places in the songs of my childhood came to life. While in the bogside, make it a point to go and pay respects.

A very sombre reminder that, beneath everything that led up to and occurred on that Sunday in 1972, there were people and that they lost their lives.

A memorial to an horrific event in recent Irish history, deserving of a few moments reflection whilst visiting the Bogside.

Virtually opposite the Free Derry Museum, this monument acknowledges those killed by poorly trained, poorly led and vindictive par-troops from the British Army. If it was deliberate and sanctioned murder, then the British have much more to account for.

We visited this area with a local retired school teacher who lived in the area at the time. The memorial was not just a plaque with names, as he was able to the story of two of the names on the plaque. I was really...More

Powerful and sobering memorial. Love that it is right were people live and can be a daily reminder to all. The Bogside area is a must see. Beautiful, yet haunting. Wonderful that everything is right up and central to keep it in people's mind, not...More
