The chapel has so much history that it is worth while have the recorded guide .
It seems smaller than when you see it on the tv .
Well worth a visit

Garter chapel
Aug 2021
Lovely building and lots of interesting monuments. Looking at the garter flags is a test of heraldry. Great architecture. Visit as part of the Windsor Castle tour or for a service (free).

Lovely church
Aug 2021
A lot of work going on and so the church wasn’t as attractive as usual. There was still plenty to see however and of course lots of history.

A very moving part of day/visit to Windsor Castle, peaceful and quiet, many memories of the events that had taken place in the Chapel over our life time.

セントジョージズ教会 St George’s Chape, Don't step on Henry VIII
Dec 2019
St George’s Chapel セントジョージズ教会 is the large church within the Windsor Castle complex. Construction was started in 1474 by Edward IV and finished in 1525 by Henry VIII. It is known officially as the College of St George and receives no funds from either the Church of England or the British government. It is independent and self-supporting. Tourists are welcome when there are not services ongoing – and are welcome if they come to worship during the services. At other times, tourists can walk through the entire chapel. I was most fascinated by the tombs of several monarchs, including King George V and Queen Mary, King George VI and Queen Elizabeth I, Edward the IV, and of course Henry VIII. Some of the tombs are directly under the floor and walkways, so one is walking over the tombs of some of England’s most famous monarchs. There are docents and stewards in the chapel who are happy to point out sights if one misses them. After all, if one is continually looking at the floor looking for Henry VIII, it is hard to enjoy the arches, ceilings and stained glass windows. The chapel can be seen in about 40 minutes. Visited late Fall 2019.

Beautiful building, audio tour not great
Oct 2020 • Couples
The building itself is stunning and so much to see. Sadly no photography is allowed. The audio tour is a bit vague - I’d like more about the kings and queens buried there. So many people are allowed in at once it was like being herded cattle - barely any social distancing going on. Shop is closed which is a shame.
