Windsor Castle is the oldest and largest occupied castle in the world and offers an extraordinarily rich and varied day out. Throughout its history, the Castle has been redecorated, enlarged and rebuilt. Today The Queen spends most of her private weekends at the Castle, which is also used regularly for ceremonial and State occasions. Great visit well worth the money. Long queue to get in but went down very quickly. Highlight was the staterooms but be aware these are only open a few months of the year. Use the audio guides they are very good and easy to use.

We were very lucky that it wasn’t as busy as we expected and we arrived just in time for changing of the guards which was excellent. Windsor castle is just so amazing and we can’t believe it is still occupied after nearly 1,000 years and...More

There isn’t much to actually ‘do’ but a lot to see and take in. Remember to take a jacket for outside

The state apartments and art work together with st George's chapel is breathtaking. Unfortunately the facilities are pretty appalling for instance the toilets. Old, and dirty the hand dryers blowing out freezing air on the coldest day so far this year. Also no cafe or...More

Best castle in the world! I’ve been visiting it since I was a kid, It was free then, to roam in an out through king Henry VIII’s gate, a magical time when there was just a policeman standing there. Still worth the price and effort...More

Such a fantastic day out. The history over 900 years. The place is spotless. It is difficult to imagine the horror only 25 years ago that they had the fire destroying part of the buildings. They have been restored to such a high standard.

Fantastic visit well worth the £21 entrance fee when the state apartments are open. The free audio guide is very good with plenty of helpful guide in every room

Half term visit. Lots of activities for children.. You need to spend at least 2 - 3 hours to really enjoy that is on display both inside and out. For kids there is a beautiful big doll's house to see as well.

An amazing experience in English royal history. The State Apartments, Queen Mary's Dollhouse and St George's Chapel and were highlights but really, if history is your thing, the entire castle is fascinating. The Changing of the Guard ceremony was very good to observe, smaller than...More

I agree. Windsor castle is fine for 3 hours but squeezing in Hampton Court probably too much plus there is the travel time. Why not spend the spare time in Windsor walking around Windsor town (pubs, restaurants and nice... More
