I would recommend starting at West Kenett Long Barrow and walking down the avenue to Avebury to really get a feel for the complex.

Due to our visiting on one of the hottest days of the year we only walked a small section of West Kennet Avenue.
As the whole area is so interesting we will hopefully revisit again soon & complete the whole Avenue.
Away from the main stones the Avenue is a wonderful site to come across as they come in view. Each stone I am sure has a story to tell, each different and I am sure had a reason when they were originally set.
Great walk, it really gives you an idea of the massiveness of the site. Walking the avenue it really gives you a glimpse of what might have been at the time to approach the stone circle. A must see. Great for children too.
