Please note that Leeds Art Gallery will be temporarily closed to visitors after British Art Show 8 ends on 10th January 2016. This is to allow for major repairs to the Victorian roof of the building. The building will reopen in 2017. The beautiful Tiled Hall cafe will remain open to visitors whilst these works take place as will the Gallery shop. We apologise for the disappointment this will cause.

This place has some brilliant Artwork. Especially the old oil paintings with character and depth. The modern spoldge stuff and the odd lumps of grey brick a brac are awful. Great cafe though. Colleague and I with an hour between meetings had a nice tea...More

I visited here with a friend on a Saturday afternoon. Enjoyed the art gallery a lot and will go again. I thought it had a good mix of different styles of art. We didn’t go into the “falling” and “walking” exhibition as we didn’t feel...More

Have to admit that we do prefer the art of yesteryear rather than that which may be referred to as 'modern'. There were some magnificent pieces when we first ventured round. However, the artwork entitled 'Falling' and 'Walking', where we had our hands stamped and...More

Do go. Henry Moore Sculptures plus much more. Some of the latest art exhibits were well worth a second look, the staff were helpful explaining anything that seemed unfathomable to me and the experience was all the better for that.

It was good on modern art. Why though was so little of its permanent selection on view? The small room to commemorate the gallery's opening was good. I particularly liked the 'Charge of the Royal Scots Greys' at Waterloo. Perhaps because my gt grandfather served...More

It was a great pleasure to visit Leeds Art Gallery and the linked Henry Moore Institute. Both places are laid out nicely and are well presented. There are important collections and, at this time, both places housed several interesting themed exhibitions. I tend to remember...More

Very modern art gallery. It looked very stylish, with lots of space & light. There was a more traditional room of art & sculpture, which I really liked and the cafe was really nice & in a lovely setting.

The Art Gallery and the Henry Moore Gallery next door stand in very prominent positions on the Headrow. The Art Gallery is for the size of Leeds comparatively small but then when these large Victorian and Edwardian collections were being put together by the prosperous...More

Have you tried the Hepworth in Wakefield? Its a train ride away (15-30 minutes from Leeds). It's a nice gallery too. I went to Leeds Art Gallery quite a while ago, not sure if there's a major renovation. They had minor ones... More
