Please note that Leeds Art Gallery will be temporarily closed to visitors after British Art Show 8 ends on 10th January 2016. This is to allow for major repairs to the Victorian roof of the building. The building will reopen in 2017. The beautiful Tiled Hall cafe will remain open to visitors whilst these works take place as will the Gallery shop. We apologise for the disappointment this will cause.

Refurbed? If white paint and poor lighting is a refurb then I’ll eat my hat! Poor lighting means it’s difficult to view top tier of paintings due to light from glass roof. Too many bare walls/ spaces and not enough art. Somewhere that would benefit...More

Ignore old signs that may try to kid you Leeds Art Gallery is closed. It was closed, while it was refurbished, but as of the autumn 2017 it's back in business. Such friendly volunteers, such helpful and interested staff - I had a wonderful couple...More

Recently restored and reopened the Victorian decor is fantastic and well worth visiting in its own right. The gallery has a mixture of galleries which will suit some, but not all. Better signage would improve the experience.

Went to visit the art gallery, what a disappointment it was. Two plastic models, one of rings placed on top of a each other and one designed like a Christmas tree come on this is not art. Then you go into the next room to...More

An eclectic mix of work both ancient and modern in a glorious setting. The contemporary Xanadu is woven around the staircase vein of the building. Installations, Lowry, Millais and Bacon feed the soul.

Just a brief review. I was pleasantly surprised at the refurb of the art gallery. Loved the children' s drawing book. HOWEVER the cafe was even worse than I remembered it. There was almost no choice and I am convinced the sandwich was made with...More

At the time we visited, the gallery was undergoing some renovation work, so we didn't get to experience the full range of exhibits.

Good to see carefully curated exhibition last month. Good cafe and shop. Relaxing ambiance. We had an hour and a half but could have been there much longer.
