Love this place. The street art puts leake street to shame (it’s endless!), the bars and indie stores are brilliant and the whole place has a cool vibe. The giant dryad has lasted! Definitely one to take a load of photos and spend an afternoon.

A very quirky find. An area full of quirky bars and restaurants. Unsure whether this is typically a student haunt, the vibe suggests it is. However, due to time of year (July) and just post total movement freedom re Covid, there were none around. Which for my ancient years 🤣 late 50s was probably a good move.

I attended the Reiss clothing sample sale this weekend as a solo male. I find that people usually attend sample sales for one of three reasons. (1) hoping to fill their wardrobe with lots of high end brand items for as little money as possible. i.e. £5 - £30 per item (2) hoping to find hidden gems (one off samples) that can’t easily be brought anywhere else (3) hoping purchase items at a knock down price but not necessarily for basement prices. If I’m honest I fall in to all three categories depending on the brands on sales. So for this Reiss sale I’d say number 1 was my main goal for attending.

On arrival I was asked to hand over my coat (which is compulsory for all attendees). Which I’ve never experienced at a sample sale previously. It was similar to a nightclub cloakroom experience, where you hand over your coat and are given a ticket to hand in on collection. It didn’t feel intrusive and coat staff were polite and welcoming. I also was ask to donate £2 (don’t know if this was meant to be voluntary but did it anyway).

I then entered the sale, which I’d say was decent size compared to my previous experiences at sample sales. I’d say the room was about the same size as a school canteen or sports hall. It was filled with rails of clothing but the rails were separated down middle with tables holding footwear and accessories like scarfs, bags, ties etc. The men’s and women’s rails separated on either sides of the middle table.

In my option the cloths selection was smart and smart casual. Items were reasonably priced. Shirts £15, Pant £20, Jeans £20, footwear £35-£50, polos £15, knitwear £20, Coats £50-£120. The items offered significant savings on there RRP.

It was a warehouse sale, so most of the items can be viewed online. It was hosted by Showcase.co and it felt like experienced people were behind the event.

Overall I’d say it was good sample sale, that offered good value. They had a decent range of different sizes (which can a nightmare at these events). I’m a medium/large depending of the item but I did notice small and XL sizes.

I purchased some shirts and jeans but I didn’t achieve my goal due to the lack of variety. Would I attend again? Probably would I recommend? I advised you to look online before attending to get a sense of the Reiss style to see if fits your personal taste.

Arrived as a group on a very very wet Saturday late morning and we were very disappointed. As a "Top 10" must see place in Birmingham we were keen to visit, but after 5 minutes of walking around, seeing empty or closed shops we left.

It's a shame as the concept is a great idea, local specialist and independent shops would be great for the area but it just looked very worn and tired. Not many people around and not enough to keep you there

It is deserted on a Saturday morning. Shops are either closed or unoccupied. The website suggested there is a vibrant community and probably gave a false impression of the place.
Disappointing.

I don't know when the description was written, but my visit yesterday was somewhat disappointing. The implied plethora of boutique shops and galleries, was little more than a post apocalyptic wasteland. The most interesting part of the visit was a bit of scaffolding and some dead plants by the pool. The potential is there, but the shops and galleries simply are not.

Such an interesting, historic area that has been revamped brilliantly.

Really enjoyed the street art and had lunch/a drink at two cool places. Even if you don't want to buy anything, just worth having a wander through.

I am so glad I walked through the custard factory this weekend as I found the most beautiful independent jewellery shop and gallery! The staff were so welcoming and all the jewellery was bespoke and most handmade by Sara in the studio just upstairs. I spoke with Sara in detail about commissioning a piece of jewellery for my partner for Christmas and she took the time to work with me and discuss the best way. She sketched some ideas and now I have a wonderful pair of bespoke earrings being made! A beautiful shop and excellent customer service, a trip here will not disappoint!

Great fun if you have a spare hour or fancy making a night of it. Drinks service while you play. Unique golf holes. Some great graffiti.

We went for a birthday party and we had a really good laugh,
