Built in 1596, Shrewsbury's iconic Old Market Hall was lovingly restored and re-opened as a contemporary cinema and cafe bar in 2004. The intimate 81-seat cinema screens a diverse programme of independent film, classics, world cinema, documentaries, and popular releases. The accompanying Cafe Bar is hugely popular as a place to meet friends and relax in historic surroundings, serving an array of teas, coffees, cold drinks, cake and alcoholic beverages. There is no place like... OMH.

What a great looking building with a large arch either end. Very well turned into a cinema and coffee shop. Stands out as surrounded by more modern shops

The architecture is excellent and the seats and tables are comfortable. The coffee was well made and we'll presented. The cafe is next to the cinema which might be small but is truly excellent.

We just love this cinema. It is the ultimate cinema treat. The screen is small and intimate and generally attracts a more sophisticated crowd. The seating is plush and comfy, including a number of double sofa seats. The adjoining cafe is licensed, so you are able...More

Lift access and stairs, to converted market hall - now cafe and cinema (a little like Everyman, can take drinks in). Tourist information there too.

I fancied the idea of a smaller, more intimate cinema experience, but I found it to be a little too small or rather I think they have tried to fit too many seats into the small space. I felt the seats were too close together....More

The café upstairs [lift available] in the old market hall is very good. Nice cakes and good coffee and tea. Well worth a visit.
