I only saw the Lord Hill's Column whilst driving by but it's impactful and imposing. It's probably worth a longer visit but isn't worth coming a log way to see.

A column is a column, and it's difficult to discern one from another, unless it's in Trafalgar Square. This one is high, and is a fitting tribute to Lord Hill

The Lord Hills Column is an iconic Shrewsbury landmark. You used to be able to get keys to up to the top in the Shirehall, I dont know whether you still can.

The column is an unmissable landmark in the Abbey Foregate. I regret it was closed when we visited but we learnt a lot just by walking around at ground level and interpreting the information. It's imposing, it's massive - don't miss it!

We were just passing through Shrewsbury and this imposing column is a most unexpected sight. We hadn't a clue who it commemorated so went off to the website to read about it. We must come back and climb it another day. It's absolutely incredible

The column is an amazing experience. I climbed it many times as a kid. Took my own kids up there a few years back. A friend just took her kids up there a month or so ago. Wonderfully narrow winding staircase and fabulous views of...More

I had no idea this column could be visited so now we have to come back one day when we know it is open. We walked around it trying to see who this man was. He is called Rowland Hill so we thought it was...More
