Roadside parking and a couple of disable parking. I was.surprised at how run down everywhere was. Overgrown gardens and shabby out buildings. Its free entry and theres plenty of wash stations. The ponds were green and dirty which was a bit worrying for the ducks etc. Good range of healthy plants and local honey for sale. Spent about an hour here not much to see or do its a real shame.maybe needs a volunteer recruitment?

Heeley City Farm has been central to its community for years and at times has encountered horrific events of vandalism resulting in damage & loss. Being close to the hearts of people within the city it recently won additional funding provided by Tesco and is a regular favourite for visits both during special events & outside them. The farm is imperative to the training needs of many young people and provides valuable work experience to many both on the farm itself and within the cafe which is also open to the public. It's a fabulous concept but one that has very confused ethics & practices. The farm has an animal policy that includes sending those raised and cared for at the farm to slaughter. It does so for financial gain and to make space for new babies which naturally bring in more visitors and thus money. I question why the farm cafe is vegetarian and is now promoting vegan ethics when it does this. This shows massively misguided ethics. The animal policy is not common knowledge nor is it advertised anywhere on the farm. By not having a transparent policy to visitors & operating a 'non meat' cafe it causes an obvious conflict. education needs to be truthful. If you are 'educating' the young in animal care you must also be honest and say where they are destined; being honest about the end too. Only then are people truly 'educated' about the industry that many are turning away from including those sitting in your cafe!!

My wife rang this place and said we wanted to visit with 2 grandchildren aged 3.5 and 6 months.
She asked if we could have the younger ones baby meal reheated in the cafe microwave at lunchtime. It was no problem as long as it didn't contain meat. Unfortunately it did so we said we would go elsewhere. Isn't 't this discrimination against small meat eaters?
Suggest you go to Butterfly House at North Anston where the staff are more sensible

Heeley farm is really lovely little city farm with an assortment of animals that kids will really enjoy and they do some nice events here which can be worth looking out for. The farm is free to enter so great for those on a budget. If you're in the area and hungry the cafe is well worth a visit with good value vegetarian food (i'm a enthusiastic meat eater but always enjoy the selection).

This place is tucked away close to the city centre and I'm sure there are a lot of people in Sheffield who don't even know it's there. It is well worth a visit with small children and at their special events, there is often live music There is a cafe at this facility, but am not sure if it is open all the time. Recommended.

I visited here last week with my friend, we had a great time up until choosing to have lunch in the cafe. We each had a jacket potato with salad, once my friend was over halfway through hers she noticed a large black slug crawling through her salad, needless to say we both lost our appetites pretty quickly. Upon showing the lady who’d made up our food we weren’t given much sympathy, she actually found it funny. Unfortunately we didn’t take a photo of the slug, needless to say we shan’t be returning.

Had an ideal visit on a lovely sunny morning. Plenty of small animals to go and see on the working farm surrounded with lovely plants. We even had the chance to see the snake being fed and the gentleman explained further how they would catch their prey. Visited the cafe which does sandwiches, jacket potatoes etc to eat, but we only had a drink outside, which has a good view for parents of the playground too. Would visit again.

I've lived a couple of miles from the City Farm for a few years now but only recently got round to visiting, with one young child in tow. We were rather disappointed by the general appearance of the place and the number of animals there. It feels disorganised and not particularly well cared, despite the length f time it has been there. The noise from the road that runs up its side is someone unhelpful too. There is a growing park that allows a good walk from over the road, which the child with us found more enjoyable. If you want a good farm for children to visit with more opportunities to interact with the animals, have a drink etc,go to Graves park instead.

Having a 19 month old it's difficult to find things to do that dont involve lots of walking but are outdoors.
How I have never been here I don't know?
We had a great time practicing our animals names.
Spotting the moos, and baas, and clucks, and neighs.
Had a play in the park and a nice lunch in the cafe. Very impressed.

Free parking and free entrance. But I suggest that you give a donation, it is a charity after all. Lots of farm animals to see. Pigs, goats, chickens and ducks then rabbits and guinea pigs , I could go on. We saw a baby goat only a couple of hours old.
There is a very nice cafe with delicious hot and cold foods, we have lunch there regularly.
Then there is the plant shop. Lots of plants and herbs for sale and bags of manure of course.
