About
Located just a few minutes to the South of Sheffield City Centre, Dore & Totley is a well liked and highly regarded private members club with a superb parkland golf course. Visitors will enjoy a warm welcome, in addition to a championship length layout that is sufficient to challenge golfers of all abilities. From the tournament tees Dore & Totley stretches to 6,763 yards, and its predominant character reflects the relatively flat terrain across which it is laid out.

I have just returned home from a function at this place. I was very pleasantly surprised how lovely the staff and the venue are. Karen organised the catering and we all felt nothing was too much trouble. The food was excellent! Non-stop tea and coffee. The atmosphere was lovely and the mixture of eating tables and conversation tables were spot on. The view out on to the golf was lovely, even on a snowy day. I would definitely recommend this place for any function and will be using this place again for sure.

In my top 3 courses to play in Sheffield some tricky holes but in ideal conditions there's a score to be had.
The greens run true and the par 3 are short, but testing with trouble all around and sloping greens. Great clubhouse with very friendly staff and the members were very welcoming which is great to see.

24 of us played this course on are final society day out
Great course the greens were top draw and that's after some heavy rain , the pie and chips and gallon of smiths after was just what the doctor ordered and really hit the spot after the round

My friend payed for her father & brother to have a game of golf and a meal in advance.
We called in to book on the9th of march only to be told they could not fit us in as they were fully booked for the rest of the month ( this paid for in advance game & lunch no longer applied after 27th of march.)
I found them very unhelpful &arrogant .Surely they could have fitted them in sometime in the
18 days left !
We where left upset & confused ,can they get away with this ? It seems they can.

The person who I spoke to on the phone was extremely ill mannered. I had tried to book a game as a visitor but was told in no uncertain terms we wouldnt be welcome either as players or diners.If it was possible to give a minus score for this place I would give it an infinately minus score.

As the club's website proudly lets prospective visitors know, this is a private members golf club. Visitors not adhering to this club's preferred standards of etiquette and dress code are likely to be set upon by keen-eyed members of the club who have been specially trained to spot a rogue non-tucked in shirt, tucked-in trouser leg, cap, sock, shoe, mobile phone or other sundry non-permitted clothing item at 200 yards. In fact, even if you do manage to stay the right side of the dress code and shoe-changing policy (Oh, didn't I mention it - You're not allowed to change your golf shoes in the car park...), they'll find some other reason & opportunity to let you know that you aren't really very welcome here.
It is a great shame as the golf course itself is well worth a bash - but trust me. All of the other negative reviews on here can't lie. Why would anyone pay good money to suffer harrassment at the hands of a club membership who don't really want visitors to come in the first place?

As a pretty new player in my 50s I have played this course a couple of times and find everyone connected, from the pro shop to the president to be welcoming and helpful. I find some of the negative comments about the club and members adhering to standards hard to take. Its good to go to places that uphold standards and rules. This trend towards criticising good standards and rule keeping is disturbing. Well done Dore and Totley. I will be visiting again soon

The course was in great condition. Definitely being well maintained. Very enjoyable round with a member. Fairways were in great condition and the bunkers were well looked after. The greens were consistent but a bit slow.

I recently played Dore & Totley again! Firstly the new secretary was extremely helpful and friendly. The course was in the best condition of any course I had played in the region (we play a society each week) with true greens and lush fairways. The few changes since I last played the course seemed to make it a more fairer challenge. We then had some food after which was top notch. Overall the course has improved dramatically since my last visit a year ago. Well worth a visit!
