The Ale House is a bit of a throwback in the sense that it sells real ale in a very basic environment. The beer we had was well kept, poured properly and most enjoyable. The barman was very personable and patient in allowing us to...More

I have never set foot in a more humid place and considering it's in the middle of Reading, that's quite extraordinary. Apart from the air and the smell of a 1000 wet coats it was such an authentic place with great beer!

Not what you'd expect in the middle of Reading I'd say. Great place to meet for a few drinks before going for a meal, or staying the whole evening. Prices were okay and the range of beers was like you were at a festival.

Had an enjoyable couple of hours here sampling the beer and taking in the surroundings. Town centre pub frequented by CAMRA admirers with some booths in the back.
