Lovely place for a peaceful walk right in the central area of Reading.close to the old abbey which has just seen some repair work.close to waterways and found it fairly quiet after walking through the main town centre.

A tree-lined walk in town by the river Kennet that is a great area to come and just chill out, very relaxing.

Maybe coming back here early Summer when the trees are in candle would improve the look of this place but it is generally rather unkempt and the view is nothing to write home about. There are various memorials to Wilde but nothing outstanding and the...More

A great addition to the usual Reading walks. Easily added to station/Oracle walkabouts. Will only improve as the gaol is redeveloped.

Chestnut Walk is a pleasant waterside stroll. However the main reason for my visit was the reference on the town guide map to an Oscar Wilde memorial. Oscar Wilde is one of the town's most famous names. He spent time in prison here just for...More

Visiting the Art installations in nearby Reading Prison and having enjoyed an excellent lunch we cut through Chestnut Walk. On a sunny September afternoon and with time to spare we were happy to linger in this quiet spot and watch the Canal boats, swans and...More

A nice quiet location of Reading for tranquil reflection. Between Reading Prison and canal. Lovely trees showing of the four seasons well through the year and supporting local wildlife particularly squirrels.
