Overview
More
Lady Margaret Hall was founded in 1878, the first of the Colleges for women at Oxford, and named after Lady Margaret Beaufort, mother of Henry VII and patroness of learning. In 1978 it became co-educational. The College accommodation is located in a variety of buildings from a diversity of periods, from late Victorian to the present day. The character of these is reflected in the style and the interior design of the rooms. They stand in extensive and exceptionally beautiful gardens on the banks of the River Cherwell. The College is within easy reach of the many facilities and sights of central Oxford, and is a short walk from the University Parks, the Bodleian Library and the Ashmolean, Pitt Rivers and University Museums. At Lady Margaret Hall we have 180 en-suite rooms. Toiletries, linen, hand and bath towels are provided in all rooms. Tea and coffee making facilities are also provided.

Had the food here when I stayed here for interviews and it was varied and tasty. Portions of fish and meat could have been a bit bigger, though.

I visited LMH for an interview in the first week of December, and found it to be as beautiful and welcoming as expected. I was given a ground floor room in the Deneke Building; this was especially helpful due to my disability, and I was...More

'I remember often' is a translation of the motto for Lady Margaret Hall, Oxford, known as 'LMH' for short. Doubtless all those who have studied there have happy memories of their time at a college in a location just north of University Parks with extensive...More

Off the beaten path of most Oxford visitors the vast gardens of this 19th century former women college are a gem one shouldn't miss. Main gate is currently undergoing renovations so you will enter through Porter's Lodge to the left. Enjoy the stroll to the...More

I stayed at Lady Margaret Hall on a bed and breakfast basis. The buildings are set in beautiful gardens near the river and the student room was modern, quiet and more than adequate. The breakfast had choice for everyone and the staff extremely helpful and...More

Unforgettable, reminded me of my first visit in 1988. A trip to lovely memories when my nephew was but a boy.

I have stayed in other Oxford Colleges for visiting Oxford and always had a relaxing, peaceful, pleasant experience - so I was unprepared for the noise and disruption caused by hoards of visiting students at Lady Margaret Hall. It was impossible to have a quiet...More

This was a great disappointment. The building was lovely, one of the older parts of the college, my room had big window and faced the garden. That was where the good stuff ended though. The paint was peeling off the walls, the carpet was old...More
