Feel privileged to have this cinema close by on Cowley Road, just a stone’s throw from some fantastic restaurants and bars too. Best cinema in Oxford to watch some quality flicks, without invasive shouty adverts. An intimate, warm and friendly atmosphere. Beautiful building too!

In my view the Ultimate is by far the best place to watch a film in Oxford. Small, intimate, a selection of decent films and no popcorn eaters to disturb you. Plus a bar where you sit. How can you beat that?

In my view the best cinema in Oxford by far. Very personal, intimate, interesting films and I just love the fact that they have got a bar in the auditorium itself. Just great.

Saw the new Star Wars film here and happy to recommend for friendliness and personal service. There's a bar upstairs with an eclectic feel. The popcorn is excellent and the seats are comfortable. You can also become a member, which entitles you to discounts. All...More

Visited last Friday to see Victoria and Abdul . Very pleased I pre booked as the place was full . Nice and quirky and small enough to make it feel like a private showing

Brilliant small cinema showing a mix of art house and mainstream films. Cosy vibe inside with a small bar at the back serving wine, coffee and cake. Audience usually middle-aged intellectual types and students. Friendly staff and a warm atmosphere. Now the only truly independent...More

Went to see the much acclaimed Lala Land at UPP. The film was nothing to write home about but......the cinema was a dream. We got the last two tickets for the showing. Despite having to sit on a dining chair ( comfy cushion provided )...More

Chose to go and see a film during a weekend in Oxford. Searched Google for cinema's and came across this little gem. It had good reviews and was showing La La Land on the Saturday afternoon so we decided to go. We got there half...More

I'm finding it increasingly difficult to support this small cinema as on a number of occasions I've found the way that the manager talks to the staff who are clearly marked as volunteers, rude and aggressive. Exchanging surprised/shocked glances with other audience members whilst overhearing...More

This cinema is a step back in time. The ticket window is just outside the cinema hall and once you have picked up your ticket you go straight in to the retro cinema hall with seems to be untouched since the 1920s. There is a...More
