The theatre is small but interesting for its history, and we made a point of visiting as part of our explorations of buildings featured in the book 1001 buildings you must see before you die. As lovely as the theatre itself is, it is impossible...More

Good for a quick stop and worth the admission to see the mural on the ceiling and the timbers under the roof as we climbed to the top. Also, toilets.

Audio guide to help navigate your way through the history of theatre used for university matriculation and graduation ceremonies. Admire the painted ceilings above and the story behind them. The trek to the top is worth the view....stunning in comparison to the view from much...More

There are a few places you can go up steps to see the skyline of Oxford. The Carfax Tower is at the edge of things and has a very narrow Medieval winding stone staircase. This is an easier climb, with a better all-weather view.

An absolute must if you visit Oxford - beautiful architecture - (strangers sometimes confuse it with the Radcliffe Camera). It was designed by Sir Christopher Wren. It's the building with the carved stone heads on pillars which you see so often in Morse / Lewis...More

A beautiful old theatre, with fantastic views of Oxford from the cupola right at the top of the building. Pick a fine clear day and you will get a panoramic view of Oxford rooftops and spires, after climbing several flights of stairs.
