High up in the Chiltern hills, Warburg Nature Reserve is a magnificent place for its wild, remote tranquillity. The flower-rich grasslands in the valley bottom give way to grand woodlands rising up the valley sides.Warburg is home to an incredible range of habitats sheltering thousands of species, and each season there is something interesting to experience. In spring, the woodland is awash with spectacular bluebells and wood anemones. In May and June the reserve has a dawn chorus second to none. The wide sunny rides and open glades of chalk grassland are full of summer flowers, including pyramidal orchid and swathes of aromatic wild marjoram and thyme. These are followed by autumn and Chiltern gentians and glorious colours throughout the tree canopy, while down below, an incredible 900 species of fungi grow. In winter, you can enjoy magical frost along the valley bottom.

Hidden away at the end of a remote single track lane is this wonderfully tranquil nature reserve, visitor centre and trails. Too many visitors would spoil this place. I will say no more

A Stunning peaceful walk surrounded by trees and wildflowers. I walked around the beautiful place for a few hours just enjoying the scenery, I must have been lucky as I hardly met a soul. A Peaceful place to gather your thoughts.

An extensive beech woodland, with patches of species-rich grassland, the Warburg is a wonderful way to understand the joys of the Chiltern Hills. There are rare orchids and butterflies to spot, and charming walks through the wood to follow. Kids should love it.

A lovely walk with all the family, in beautiful countryside. Tip - collect a nature explorers pack for children from the visitors office/or bird hide. It involved a map to follow and activities for the children to do along the way.
