The flowers and wildlife are astounding, to say the least. I have spent many hours sat in the arboretum, soaking in the atmosphere and wildlife. Early mornings are a wonderful time to visit, as it's practically devoid of human activity, making it a really nice...More

A relaxing idle in the centre (ish) of the city. A great place for the various events which take place here such as the vegan fair, green & eco fair and Pagan Pride. A great free resource for the city

We spent a very pleasant hour walking through this lovely and well maintained arboretum. The Victoria garden was very beautiful and peaceful. The Chinese Bell Tower was nice to look at. The cafe/tea room served us with lovely ice cream.

Tranquil park with nice cafe. The Chinese Bell Tower was interesting. 'It was designed in 1857 by Marriott Ogle Tarbotton as a war memorial and built in 1862. The bell was looted by British troops from a temple in Canton during the Anglo-Chinese war (Opium...More

You could easily miss the arboretum if you take the tram as it rolls past. It isn't a huge area but is a quiet little oasis which contains a plethora of plants. It is good for a little tranquility in an otherwise busy City

Yes, it’s ideal for a picnic. Depending on your mum’s mobility it is walkable from the city centre; probably 20 to 30 minutes.
