Nice historical pumping building - a peaceful nice place to go for a trek or long walk! It was easy to locate with assistance of the GPS!

you get a guided tour which is cool, Also model of how it used to be, you realise how many people it used to employ and the local affect on housing etc

The story is - there were plans to demolish the winding engine house, and a group of volunteers stepped in and stopped them. One big funding grant and hundreds of hours of volunteer work later, the building is a proud testimony to generations of miners....More

A very important site with loads of interesting information given by the enthusiastic volunteers. The site is very well kept and is free to visit Saturday mornings are a good time and also on event days.

Sadly it was closed when i went by with the dog. Just wish it was open more during the day but understand that it is all ran by volunteers. Talking of the volunteers, it was nice to see the gates of the winding house decorated...More

We went on a pump day. There was lots to do. The volunteers were really enthusiastic and helpful and we learnt lots of facts and had a go at a few things too. Food a bit basic though. Next time we would take a picnic....More
