A magnificent 17th century ducal mansion built on the site of the original Medieval Castle. The Castle has a turbulent past, linked to kings and conquerors and still has a maze of original caves hidden beneath its imposing walls. Now the building houses a Museum & Art Gallery, offering visitors an opportunity to see the best regional, national and international art in the regularly changing exhibition galleries. Plus the permanent exhibitions showcase costume and textiles, silverware, glass and a glimpse into Nottingham's history.

The walk around the castle itself is beautiful and the grounds are kept in great condition. Lovely views of nottingham from the top. The long hall in the art gallery was interesting but some of the exhibitions were poorly laid out. Service in the café...More

Worth a short visit just for the panoramic views but a bit of a shame that there is just a country house of a few hundred years at the top of the hill with a museum holding a mis-match of artefacts with no obvious relevance...More

Plenty to do for the kids. Nice walk around. Once you’ve done it once though there’s not much point in going back. Wouldn’t say never.

If you go to Nottingham Castle, go for the cave tour. The "castle" is more of a worn museum with no hint of the interior architecture. The Robin Hood floor was particularly disappointing. The art gallery, particularly the pottery, was surprisingly good. The grounds are...More

Amazing amount of history starting at the very gate you enter at and great views across Nottingham. The displays are an eclectic mix of art and pottery and, truth be told, looking a little tired .... BUT then you go on a tour of the...More

A great day out with the highlight being the cave tour run by Mark, who was a passionate, fun and knowledgeable tour guide. And the benefit of a good workout as the walk takes in a large number of steps

Hi, mine was £7 as an adult, you can ask for this as an annual or day pass, to then go into the caves was another £7, there was also family tickets and I think the concessions were £5 admission and £5 for the caves. hope... More
