Beautiful. Still an active part of the community, which can be seen and felt while visiting. A privilege to experience this degree of devotion and practice, in such a historic environment. There is opportunity for quiet prayer and reflection. Free entry. Donations. Apparently, the Monks...More

This abbey has an old Saxon "fridstool", a stone prayer seat - there's another one in Beverly Minster in Yorkshire, and beautiful lancet windows. The nave is very impressive.

Magnificent Abbey locatied in the centre of a small market town. A wedding was about to be held which proves it is still part of daily life in Hexham

Stunning church. Well worth a visit. There are fantastic 1st century Tablet Stones here. The windows are extraordinary and when you go upstairs you get a beautiful view of the whole church.

This is quite a small abbey in the centre of the town, but the welcome and information is excellent. The crypt is small and is quite interesting. Their leaflets are very good

Huge old church with lots of history. Very inpressive building, nice stained glass windows and a small museum showing history of building. Great coffee shop. Welcoming person handing out map and answering questions on entrance was good. Donation was optional.
