A beautiful building which dominates the West side of the town. Has many attractions around it. Old market, old jail and so on.

The Abbey is awesome, with the crypt especially so (full of Roman stones from Corbridge Roman Bridge). Lovely coffee shop always worth a visit

We have visited many churches, abbeys etc. This one is quite good and not overrun with people. It has an interesting history going back many years. Underneath are the remains on an Anglo saxon church which you can access. A volunteer will explain its origins....More

After visiting the ruins of an Abbey in the Fort at Tynemouth, it was a sight to behold - beautiful stain glass windows and wonderful stonework. The skill of the builders is amazing!
