I visited Vindolanda as part of a weeklong hike along Hadrian's Wall. It's not directly on the Wall but easy to get to either by walking or by taking the AD122 bus from the Once Brewed Visitor's Center. The site is well worth the effort...More

Wow. This is a fascinating site - although the car park looks like it's rather insignificant you shouldn't be fooled: park up and go in. Getting the multi-ticket so you can get into Housesteads or the army museum is worth it because there's a enough...More

Very impressed with Vindolanda. So much to see and great information across the site. The museum is great. So many Roman artefacts and again easy to read information. Would definately visit again As excavations going on all the time. Excellent value for money.

What a great place to visit. Buy the joint ticket which gives you access to the Roman Army museum 6 miles up the road. Received a very friendly welcome. An interesting place to visit for children and adults alike.

Lots to see and perfect starting point for walking a section of wall. A real sense of what it must have been like to be stationed on the edge of the empire.
