Very well presented tableaux with good aural explanations and stories to interest all ages. I declined to sit in the stocks or dress up but others would love it. Not knowing much about the Reivers or Border Marches this was the best part for me....More

We really enjoyed this visit. There was so much interesting information here. Well worth a visit whether you have children or not. Dressing up for all. So much history in one place.

Plenty of information on how the gaol operated and various other aspects of Hexham life. Not that large, but the detail given is impressive, and it is given in a very accessible manner.

Dates back to the 1300’s and built with stones from Roman ruins at nearby Corbridge. Has underground dungeons which you can see but not enter. Not used as a prison since the 1800’s.

We nearly passed this on the way out but nipped in. Glad we did as it is a cracking spot to lose a couple of hours looking round.
