Nice place first thing on a morning. Well looked after by volunteers. My interest is taking photos. Chances to see a few deers if your very quite. I would recommend a visit. I always take some bird food to feed them

Glad it is here and had a nice walk around the boardwalk with the family. In November we didn't see much in the way of flowers, insects, birds or animals but it was a peaceful walk. I feel a little bad only giving it a...More

Had an hour to spare so loaded Ben in the car and went for a wander around Askham bog. Some of the plants and trees are just starting to turn, but still had butterflies in the bushes and dragonflies over the water. Lovely peaceful hour...More

Nice little nature reserve on the outskirts of York near Copmanthorpe with free entry and parking. Definitely worth a visit if you want a quiet walk (about 10-15 mins in a loop). If you want to go off the track then that is an option...More

We visited this reserve while on holiday in York. It is a pleasant, tranquil site and a good place to go to get away from the tourist scene. The boardwalks mean that you do not need special footwear. Ferns and the fallow deer were the...More

We live nearby and visit this reserve fairly regularly. We have seen loads of fallow deer this year and the Osmunda regalia ferns were particularly impressive this year. There are information boards at various points of interest around the walkway. You need never get your...More

Askham bog is a superb place to go for a walk close to the City of York. Alongside the fairways of Pike Hills Golf Club, there is a wide variety of plants, insects, birds and animals to see and you don't need to get shoes...More

Found this tranquil little oasis after driving past literally hundreds of times - and deciding to stop and take a look. Now a firm part of my exercise regime - 10 laps of the boardwalk, taking in the beautiful surroundings - listening to nature. The...More

Just minutes from the hustle of Tesco and taddy road is this little gem. Just off the main road, you'll see a small car park with an information board. Follow the path through the trees through to the bog. You can spend a good hour...More
