We went to York Minster for the impressive architecture and stained glass which are very beautiful but decided to take the challenge of climbing the wet steps straight up to the top of the tower. The climb is hard and if you are at the...More

In addition to the York Minster tour, my husband and I paid the extra fee to climb the Tower. We hesitated a bit, given that we already paid to enter the Minster, but decided to go up anyways. There is a set time to be...More

Climbed the Minster Tower, breathtaking views, not for the unfit & those afraid of heights. The climb itself is up a small spiral staircase at an allotted time only broken by a small horizontal walk on the roof to reach another set of even smaller...More

This is a weather dependent activity as it would be worth going up when it’s raining (albeit mist might be quite a view). There are 275 steep steps to climb so you need to be relatively fit. Pick a day like I did, with blue...More

York Minster is excellent and the Tower climb tops it off! One gets a close-up view of the gargoyles and flying buttresses on the way up. On the top there is a 360 degree of York. It is well worth the 275 steps going up!

I visited York Minster as a child, 30 years ago, but I had never climbed the Tower, so pleased I did! It cost £5 more to do the climb and it was worth every penny. The narrow spiral staircase seemed endless but suddenly I was...More

Having already paid £10each to enter Minster - bit much I think, but hey you're in York, you cant not go in! We thought we'd do the whole thing and pay the extra £5 each to climb the tower. Although I nearly wimped out last...More

We climbed the York Minster and reached the top which boasts beautiful and picturesque views of the nearby region. Apparently I counted 266 steps in total excluding a few steps in the start or middle, so there should be 275 steps in total as mentioned...More

A really fun thing to do gives sweeping views of York. Narrow passage ways eventually lead to viewing deck
