I live local to the rook and gaskill and whilst never a regular visitor I have in the past enjoyed popping in here for a pint after work or on the way home after a few drinks in town. So after a few drinks around...More

Was having a lovely evening with a large group of friends and we went to Rook & Gaskill where we spent a fair bit of money between us. Noticed a man in a checked shirt staring at us - admittedly we weren't being quiet, but...More

Lots of great pubs in York, but despite its extensive selection of draught ales and ciders, I don't regard this as one of them. Some excellent beers, and the service is friendly enough, but the pub itself is a bit of a dump. There was...More

This is generally a decent pub with a good range of beers, but the quiz night (Thursday) is absolutely dreadful and I would refuse to return even if paid. The evening resembles a rugby club disco (music so loud you must shout to hear yourself...More

Unrivalled selection of beers and cider, and a very good menu consisting of great freshly made burgers, chilli, nachos and fresh pizzas made in a wood-fired pizza oven. I highly recommend the burgers in particular.

Lovely pub. A good selection of well kept real ales. Tasty, freshly made food which in itself is well worth a return visit. (I would go so far as to say the pizza was the nicest I have had).

Came here with friends on a Friday night before heading to see a comedy show and wasn't disappointed! A great selection of beers on tap and lovely wine! The pizza was absolutely scrummy and served really quickly! Great customer service and it was heaving so...More
