We walked on a rainy afternoon but weren’t disappointed the view of York Minster and the town were quite breathtaking well worth a visit, the only disappointment is the wall stops and it’s hard to find we’re it starts again but overall well worth it

There are 4 sections - we walked 2 of them. The best bit is close to The Minster, but we were disappointed with the lack of views from the walls.

We enjoyed walking the old city wall; managed to do about 1/3 of it, and then detoured to get to city center because of a threatening storm.

While we only did part of the wall it was well worth it. You get a great view of the city and get to really see the history of the city. The walls are only open between dusk and dawn but the walk is easy...More

We were so lucky with the weather! The wall walk on a sunny day is real fun and great workout. You will see amazing views of old York along the way - glorious Minster, the gardens of the Treasurer House, the Dean’s Court, the gateways...More

I wouldn’t recommend it as some parts of the wall end in steps and aren’t very wide. Other parts have no railing and a steep drop to the exposed side too.

They can be accessed most times of the day, during daylight hours. However, the gates through which the walls pass are locked and so preventing access. The walls are not continuous and in parts are open on one side so not... More

We never got the feeling like we could fall. There are high walls or fences and solid footing. If it's just being high, I think 20-30 feet at the most is it.
