A very scenic walk around the City walls. Views looking down on areas you would not usually see. Plenty of photo opportunities to be had.

Nice walk around York. If you’re short on time or are with children or elderly people, stay close to the minster; the other parts of the wall do not have a fence and go around residential areas. The section of the wall by the minster...More

You can access most parts of the historical city via the city walls whilst getting a great view. You can also get off/on at many points throughout city. Be sure to stop at the bars for a coffee on the way round.

We arrived at Monk Bar and walked along the wall to Bootham Bar, we were told that this was the most scenic part of the wall. It was a beautiful spring day and all the blossom was out on the trees. We passed the Treasurers...More

When visiting York you simply must visit the City Walls. We visited just after Easter on a cold but bright day. The visibility was good and you could see for miles from on top of the walls. Enough people walking them but not enough to...More

This is a great way of seeing York without all of the crowds. There are information boards at various parts giving the history of that area, when we were walking their were very few people on so we didn't have to hurry. All in all,...More

Just to think of how long these walls have been standing is difficult to wrap your head around. Views as you walk the top of walk are breathtaking

A great walk along this ancient wall. Great chance to soak up history or sit on one of the many benches and just relax

Ancient city walls are all around York and are still very much a feature of this beautiful city. They’re all around.

They can be accessed most times of the day, during daylight hours. However, the gates through which the walls pass are locked and so preventing access. The walls are not continuous and in parts are open on one side so not... More

We never got the feeling like we could fall. There are high walls or fences and solid footing. If it's just being high, I think 20-30 feet at the most is it.

I am a tourist, and so cannot answer your question but York is a highly organised destination and so would be suprised if a German speaking tour was not available
