This historic and beautiful church stands out in the pretty little city of York. Both the interior and exterior have been grandly designed, and the surroundings are equally breath taking. Its just a pity that they charge an admission fee just to enter the church...More

We arrived half an hour before Evensong started, the choir were practicing, all attendants scrubbed clean and shiny faced an air of expectancy and optimism hung around the Minster. I’ve attended Evensong here before, the place is beyond amazing. Questions of how it was built,...More

£10 admission charge but lasts for a year. Much bigger inside than I expected but well laid out exhibits and explanations. Did not go up the tower (extra charge) due to vertigo issues.

Went to two services. The singing was excellent. A lovely building with lots of history to enjoy. We were made very welcome.

excellent imposing building and my wife and I would have gone round but object to paying a tenner each to do so especially since the Church is rich enough anyway

What is there to say about an historic, beautiful cathedral which hasn't already been said? Just look in awe at the majesty, detail and sheer historical beauty of the place and wonder what vision (over hundreds of years) it took to produce. Whether there is...More

The Minster is impressive externally but does charge an overpriced admission fee. When you compare this Minster internally against Ely or Worcester then this come a port third. In most places you have extreme difficulty in distinguishing what the stained glass windows are trying to...More

Such a beautiful historical building, full of history and alleged hauntings, a must place to visit and if you really want a view climb the 275 stairs to the top of the spiral staircase

This was second on my itinerary for visit to York. My mum told me the bells kept her awake at night in the hospital where I was born in 1943! The visit was enhanced imeasurably by our volunter guide who pointed out so many details...More

This is a wonderful place, gorgeous to look at and incredible inside. In my opinion though it is extremely expensive. I would guess many people are unable to enter because of the price. It’s a church after all it really is a tourist place with...More

We did a self guided tour with no guide or time restrictions. My husband and son took the roof top tour and it was filled over an hour out. Go early if you don’t have the ability to wait. They seemed to run every 45 minutes... More

There are at least 4 services every day. Details are on the Minster's website but evensong at 5.15 on weekdays, usually with the choir, is very popular.
