My wife & I visited here late November 2018. It has free admission. Obviously large to contain the trains, it includes the Mallard, the Flying Scotsman & a Japanese Bullet Train, also Royal trains throughout the years & many more trains, plus lots of railway...More
Im not a train enthusiast however I really enjoyed wandering around the trains & the museums...there's talks & lots of staff on hand who are very knowledgeable.
Its a free attraction...they do ask for a £5.00 donation or whatever you can afford

Not a railway enthusiast but it's always nice to see the old trains and the layout lends itself to wandering around for an hour or so to see these. Free to enter (though the donation tin is right as you walk in)

Great day and such a bonus that it’s free they could easily change an admission fee only downside was that the flying Scotsman was there and starting up but as it was outside on main track you could not get to it.
