The Notting Hill Carnival is centred around a huge parade that makes its way through the Notting Hill area of London every August Bank Holiday weekend. The carnival is a big celebration of Caribbean culture, where people dress up in traditional carnival costumes and dance to the beats of the drums and the speakers that line the route. It’s a mostly free event, where you can follow the crowd and enjoy the traditional Caribbean fare from the pop-up street sellers on the side of the road, as well as a few rum cocktails!

The carnival is very beautiful event however not safe due to drunk and drugged people who attend it. There should be more police involved.

Nottinghill is a multi cultural area. Yet the festival is very much against inclusion of any other culture other than black. Please remember that Nottinghill is predominantly a middleclass neighbourhood, and most of its residents simply leave London to avoid the festival. For a few...More

We were staying on Piccadilly, so we walked from our hotel, to Notting Hill across Hyde Park, which was nice in the sunny weather. We went early-ish on Monday, tried some food truck grub which was ok. We watched, drank and danced at a quieter...More
