I have a keen interest in Roman history but couldn't help but feel a little disappointed with this. Only a very small part of the amphitheatre has been uncovered and the illusion is broken with the bright neon wireframe people everywhere. It would had been...More

We stopped here after visiting the Mithraeum and before going onto the London Museum , another one of our free visits! The Amphitheatre is in the basement of a free art gallery which we enjoyed viewing before we went downstairs. The Amphitheatre is explained well...More

Visited on pancake day and there was lots going on outside the art gallery! Great pancakes and fun races from all the guilds. We went down to the Amphitheatre and were amazed by what we saw. It was great! It was a great place to...More

This is a great place to visit, tours can be booked but there are free tours as well. Discovered accidentally during building works, part of the ampitheatre has been preserved under the guildhall. There's a beautiful art gallery as well. This is well worth a...More

Located within/under the Guild Hall in London you can enter for free and go down to the basement to see what remains of this old Roman Amphitheater. The are is not large, but the display is interesting with highlighting.

I've visited the gallery before and am never dissappointed. I saw fantastic works of art not seen on previous visits and of course the amphitheatre still moves me when I walk into that darkened room. A fantastic place to visit in the City of London...More

Though there is little left of London's Roman Amphitheatre it is very worthwhile visiting. Hidden beneath the Guildhall Art Gallery you descend into a dimly lit and highly atmospheric space that beautifully lights the remaining walls and drainage system and also gives an impression of...More

Pause in the square, - The Guildhall Yard - before entering the Guildhall. If you look down you will see most of a 80m oval marked in dark stone on the ground. It denotes the layout of the arena. In the basement you'll find a...More

As a lover of Roman antiquities this is a must see. Upon building the new guildhall art gallery, (worth a visit by itself!) in 1989 they discovered the ruins of the old Roman amphitheatre, and what they did with it is perfect! Left as it...More
