I was recently taken to this gastro pub by friends, who rave about this place. I must say I was not disappointed! An excellent meal, first class service and a wonderful atmosphere. Although the pub is located off the beaten track and in a residential...More

Had a great evening out tonight. Started with a bacon Chickory Apple appetizer which was absolutely delicious. Then went on to a chicken and chorizo pie that was also scrumptious. The wine selection was great and I highly recommend this restaurant to anybody who is...More

Visited as group of 6 people. Had the sirloin beef roast - the meat was melt in your mouth excellent and the roast potatoes crisp which is something I am often disappointed with. We had various desserts as well which were all homemade. The staff...More

Lovely friendly local gastro pub. We had an excellent Sunday lunch and were made to feel very welcome despite being accompanied by our enormous Rhodesian Ridgeback! The manager relocated us to a table with ample doggy floor space and plied our dog with treats. He's...More

Great burgers and a nice veggie option too. A great local and you can bring the dog along for the ride (though they no longer provide a pig's ears for the dog!)

We have eaten here a few times and always enjoyed it. The ravioli is really good and I've had two good starter salads with cheeses, both tasty. The beetroot soup this time was also excellent. I think the starters are better than the mains. The...More

A community pub. Haven't eaten here. But I enjoy the sociable atmosphere on a Friday night. I like the young staff who are very welcoming. People bring their dogs in which can be entertaining. Good ales and wines.

In my opinion The Brown Dog Pub has a long way to go before it qualifies as a "Gastro-Pub". We found the food to be average at best and the crab gratin dish was not one I would recommend.

We ate at the Brown Dog on a quiet Tuesday evening and, as usual, our food was very god and our waitress gave exceptional service, smiling and helpful throughout the evening. I started with deep fried squid with spiced lime mayonnaise and was given a...More
