A permanent reminder of the Great Fire of 1666, the Monument commemorates one of the most famous events in London's history. Standing regally on the piazza between Fish Street Hill and Monument Street, the 202ft column designed by Sir Christopher Wren and Dr Robert Hooke, celebrates the City which rose from the ashes. The Monument invites you to climb its 311 spiral steps and enjoy one of the best views over the City.

My son and I climbed the 311 steps to the top of the Monument and the view is outstanding. I did not know this monument existed until recently and for the two of us to climb the stairs it was GBP10 for both of us....More

It takes a bit of effort to climb, no doubt. It's a really interesting monument, with a lovely view at the top. Being in a lookout that was lower than a lot of the buildings was nice! It made for nice pictures! You have to...More

This is a historic landmark and the climb is worth it - the stairs get narrower towards the top. The climb is worth it as you get some good views of the Thames as well as the City. Well worth a visit.

The monument itself is one of the significant and important landmark. The fee they charge for getting on top is which doesn't make sense. The staircase is narrow, and at the top the view is obstructed with safety wire.

One of Londons most interesting memorials. Easy to get to from London Bridge and a great link with the great fire of London (it started a distance equal to the height of the monument). However the viewing platform is pretty small and my wife was...More

I was staying at a nearby hotel for business and had a couple of hours to kill. I came upon the Monument and was invited to go inside. 311 steps later, up a winding staircase, I emerged to an amazing 360 degree view of London....More

Had a look at the Monument's website. According to the website, it's closed for essential maintenance work until further notice. So no word yet when it'll reopen. I hope this helps!
