One must look at this house as an art installation and not an historic house, which can be confusing if that's the idea you have as you walk through the front door. A true step back in time (personally a bit messy housekeeping) however the...More

I really wanted to love this experience. I loved the idea of it all - a home frozen in time, stripped of anything modern, oozing history and story and questions. I even loved the way I discovered it: I just zoomed into our hotel's location...More

This is a work of art; it's an artist's very personal conception of a historical home - and like a lot of art, your impression of it will be subjective. My impression was less museum or time capsule, and more like a cluttered antiques store....More

"You either see it or you don't." If you do - you are rewarded. "Stop looking at things - look at what things are doing." I carried that "suggestion" from where I read it in the downstairs parlor to the final room on the top...More

We took the 'Silent Night' tour and it was an interesting experience. It was nice to walk around a place in total silence and really take it all in - not being able to take photos also probably adds to the experience. The tour follows...More

No booking needed on a Monday at lunch time. You'll have to wait outside the door - there is no space inside to accommodate waiting guests, which is understandable, but not very comfortable on a wet and windy day like today! I enjoyed the house...More

Walking through the staged and atmospheric rooms was like a cross between a period drama and a conceptual art installation. Whiffs of coal smoke, sounds from the past and the rumble of the Central Line beneath our feet added to the ambience. The candlelight and...More

Denis Severs created this “memories of a house” art installation to give the feel of walking into the past and it’s not a museum, but an immersive and evocative place that is unique. Reminiscent of “pioneer village” and living history displays, you are asked to...More

Very well preserved house/museum takes you back into 18th century. Loads of small detail and quite few rooms to visit with variety of displays, you would have to visit the place to understand the true feel of it.

I believe that reservations are required and that those reservations are at night. It does look cool at nighttime. The darkness helps the ambiance too. :)
