Imagine, one of the oldest churches in London, holding a place of honor for downed pilots. It is so reverential to these brave lads, not just Brits, but Americans, Poles, etc. I was truly awed.

This Christopher Wren church, destroyed during the Blitz, was adopted by the Royal Air Force and is used to commemorate their aviators who died in battle. There is also a wonderful floor mosaic honoring the many Polish airmen who served under the RAF during WWII....More

This church opposite the Royal Courts of Justice in the Strand is dedicated to the RAF, which gives it a uniquely emotional atmosphere with so many reminders of the sacrifices made by air crew and their support staff, as well as the RAF's triumphs. It...More

Unfortunately there was a service going on when I visited. From the outside, it looks like a cute little church with statues of 2 important WW2 Royal Air Force Figures. Namely Arthur Harris and Hugh Dowding.

A really great way to spend a lunchtime - with a little planning - was today’s recital by Zheng Zhong Zhou accompanied by Gary Matthewman (piano). It was an excellent programme, including songs by Chinese and Italian composers. The building is just wonderful, historic and...More

Christopher Wren church sadly destroyed by incendiary bomb during WWII. Restored by the RAF and adopted as their church - and also to commemorate their own fallen. Great combination of memorials in a church setting. Works well.

One of 2 London island churches. fabulous history was bombed out in the war & only the 1588 Armada bell & the outer walls survived. now it's the RAF national church. Well worth a short visit. Very near the Royal Courts of Justice.
