Overview
More
St Martin-in-the-Fields is a landmark. Its fine Georgian architecture and prominent location place it at the heart of the nation. Its work has valued historic tradition, but St Martin’s has always been innovative in response to changing needs. From London’s first free lending library to the first religious broadcast, St Martin’s has broken new ground in defining what it means to be a church. Solidifying its position for years to come, St Martin's has an award-winning cafe, puts on concerts with London's best musicians, and hosts fantastic events in its unique subterranean spaces. Free lunchtime concerts take place every Monday, Tuesday and Friday, a fantastic way to hear both established and emerging stars of the classical scene. As well as the fantastic food on offer in the Cafe in the Crypt, during the summer months St Martin's opens the Cafe in the Courtyard, offering a host of al fresco delights.

Came to this church as we are starting to visit some of the historic churches of London. The church is a Neo classical church, a beatiful building outside and in, with a partially gold decorated ceiling. No stained glass, lovely large spaces. We went to...More

The evening candlelit classical concerts are marvelous and inspiring. Most weekend nights offer a variety of unique classical music evenings, from Bach, to Mozart, to Betovean, to Vivaldi. Such a marvelous experience and a delight.

This was my second time for a performance and they both were great. The musicians are supremely talented and put on a very emotional performance. They play many recognizable works and some you haven’t heard of too for a price that is a bargain for...More

Visited after a pit stop in the Cafe in the Crypt. This is a beautiful church and one is free to wander around, sit and think, take photos. Donations support the work of the church, especially with homeless and vulnerable people in the area. Always...More

I know this Church is popular for concerts, so wanted to pop in and visit. Was surprised, as I had expected it to be more elaborately decorated inside, the window I felt was quite modern and different. Went downstairs into the Crypt where there was...More

This is a lovely building on the East side of Trafalgar Square. From the outside the church has a great facade, and once inside it is relatively plain with the layout of a typical church, which of course, it is (pews, altar, organ etc.). It...More

Timing is everything - and we were able to catch the Brandenburg Concerti (yes, all of them). It is a beautiful venue - and - there is a great little restaurant in the caves in the basement.

This is a historical church near to Trafalgar Square. I come here quite often after work for the popular classical music evening concerts. It is generally brightly lit which illuminates the stunning architecture, although many concerts are by candlelight. The huge organ dominates the rear...More
