Top ways to experience West End
The area
Neighbourhood: Mayfair
Set beside some of London's best parks and home to world-class galleries, luxurious hotels, and famed thoroughfares, the ultra upscale Mayfair is one of London's most exclusive haunts. Here the shopping is haute, the dining is exquisite, and the nightlife is vibrant. A casual stroll through the area’s chic streets will reveal that Michelin stars and chauffeured cars are practically the norm here. Even if you're on a tight budget, this exceptionally well connected swath of Central London is worth exploring, if only for the chance to take a peak at the goings on of upper crust English society.

West end of London was nice unchanged even after more than 10 years. Cozy small stores scattered in Portobello while gorgeous brands lining up in the center.

The West End is the fashionable area of London. It's kind of upper crust, with exclusive shopping, entertainment and dining. Piccadilly and Mayfair have some of the world's most expensive real estate. Tottenham Court Road is said to be the entry to the West End, it's easy to get to this area. If you're staying in London for a while, it's a must-see destination.

For me as for a tourist, this was a center of London. Full of passing people and full of street performers, this is a pulsing part of London that you can't miss. I liked the park with a lot of statues that you can take pictures with. I passed by because I was going to the theater that's also in this area, and ended up taking the pictures of the statues.

If you are coming to London you will almost certainly come to this central part of London which is known for its shopping, eating and entertainment. There is so much to see you will need more than a day. Definitely walk down Oxford Street, Regent Street, Bond Street and Piccadilly then wander through the streets of Soho and Mayfair before heading to Covent Garden. Try getting off the main roads and you will find hidden churches, green spaces, shops, cafes, pubs....

The West End and Mayfair is one of the great parts of london. West End brings all sorts of theatre and Mayfair is renowned for its incredible shops.

The West End area of London is full of theatres, bars, restaurants and shops. There are also quite a few tourist attractions including Leicester Square, Picadilly Circus, Covent Garden and Chinatown to name just a few.
Many of the tube lines go through West End and lots of buses as well but the best way to explore is on foot. There are lots of places to stop off and loads of shops to go into including the M&M's and Lego Stores.
Theatreland is located here and there are places to by tickets for last minute deals for different shows. Sadly many of the music venues in the West End have been demolished which is a real shame but I would definitely recommend exploring this cosmopolitan area.

This is a vast part of London and as its name suggests, it is located to the west of the part of London known as the City of London.
This was our fourth visit to London and each of those visits has seen us spend a substantial amount of time in the West End.
Our activities in the West End during this most recent visit involved shopping in the extensive retail neighbourhood around Oxford Street and strolling through the fascinating theatre district around Leicester Square and Shaftsbury Avenue. Wherever we went in the West End, we found crowds of both locals and tourists out, enjoying the summer sunshine.
Anyone who visits London as a tourist should spend at least half a day visiting as much of the West End of London as they can. A full day would be even better but this would still not do it justice!

My wife and I are spending a week in London where we will be seeing 8 shows in 6 days (we love musicals!). Obviously, there will be some days where we see 2 shows. A matinee that ends about 4:30 and then an evening show that starts at 7 or 7:30. Other than grabbing dinner, I'm wondering what there is to do for 3 hours, besides just randomly walking around

Check out the Rathbone Hotel. It's within walking distance to the West End and surrounded by lots of inexpensive places to eat.

4 23yr olds looking to stay in London. What is the hip part of town to stay in?

Hello There,
I'm no youngster but one of the eternal hip places is Camden.
It's got an amazing music, art and food scene and is within minutes of all of the other hip places.
If you want to get a couple of minutes out of the centre (a bit less costly) look at Hammersmith and Shepherd's Bush to the West, Finsbury Park and Holloway to the North,
Have a great stay in our splendid city.
