This is definitely the worse NT property that we have visited by far. Please don't come here, it is more like a community centre than a NT property. The volunteers are unhelpful and are far from the informative volunteers that you usually get at most...More

Sutton House is a National Trust property and is one of the oldest brick built houses in Hackney. Not too much inside but the actual building is ok enough for a 30 - 40 minute visit if you are interested in the Tudor period. I...More

I had only heard about this place a couple of days ago and was surprised to hear about a Tudor house so close to home. When I arrived, it took a few attempts to get in. You need to knock on the door. Despite the...More

Did not know what to expect in the middle of Hackney. Nice walk from the station, past an old churchyard and large Victorian houses. Sutton house is a gorgeous Tudor house. Staff very friendly and helpful, there is a serve yourself cafe and a little...More

Was looking for something to do on Easter Monday which wasn't too expensive or far away. Paid £7 to visit this house of about half a dozen rooms. There's a small gift shop and self service cafe which has tea, coffee and cake. Took 45...More

A 16th century house in Hackney - you're kidding right? Absolute gem of a place, with a massive back story to the initial makings of the village of Hackney. Must see and do asap.

Perhaps not one for a long visit, but interesting enough. Of particular note, the preserved squat on the top floor - an unusual slant of recent social history that you wouldn't expect of the NT. Adjoining Breaker's Yard good too.

We had national trust tickets and had to choose a property. I was pleasantly surprised by this lovely house. There are lots of original features and real care has been taken to share it's expansive history. I had no children with me but I loved...More

While moderately interesting, reviewers can be forgiven for rating it the 458th best thing to do in London. The house has passed through many hands, so no original contents remain, but it has panelling, and the National Trust has put in some furniture and pictures...More

Have been on several NT Easter Trails, but this one outshone them all. Absolutely great place - can't wait to revisit. Love that the squatters have been included in the building's history.
