Not sure how to review a cemetery but Highgate Cemetery is an exception. It should be visited as it is the resting place of quite a few famous names and many unknown names that date centuries back. If nothing else, it should be visited to...More

I had heard about the cemetery tour from a friend who went on it a few months ago. I decided to take the tour yesterday afternoon as the weather was too nice to do anything indoors - and I’m so glad I did! Neil was...More

They tell much about the culture, but this is special. I'm no fan of his, but I respect his accomplishment - as much as I despise his ideology. MARX. It's worth a visit, even if just to take a picture that your radicalized friends will...More

We had a very good tour through Highgate Cemetary. Peter has a special flare for story telling and made the trip a memoriable one. It's a beautiful cemetary and a grea t place for taking picutres.

Highgate is one of those cemeteries not to miss out on if you are visiting London. The various stone architecture, the tombs, the mausoleums are simply amazing and you can easily spend hours here. Don't miss out on the head stone shaped as a baby...More

We visited here on a recent short break in London and managed to get in on one of the late tours on a Wednesday evening as they were open late that day. Started off with a wander around the east cemetery. This is where several...More

Our group visit to Highgate Cemetery was on a beautifully sunny day and so we saw it at its best (except for in the snow I understand!). This is an incredible place to visit. We had a tour round the West Cemetery (I think you...More

Yes of course Karl Marx is here. This is the pilgrimage made by Communists, fellow-travellers and admirers. The place has an almost Gothic feel. This is a private cemetery unless you have a relative there. Which of course nobody checks. However it helps to have...More

I recommend the tour. It was the best £6 I have spent for a long time. Highgate is visually beautiful, the history is fascinating and the guide Peter Mills was knowledgeable and enthusiastic. I wished the tour lasted longer it was so good. However we...More

We're so glad you enjoyed your visit. Although I should just emphasise for other readers that the tour is only £6 if you're fortunate to be under 18! Otherwise, £12, which includes the guided tour of the West and also entry to the East. Thank...More

I went recently - you have to get there yourself (signposted but worth looking at google maps). Only the volunteers at Highgate cemetery are allowed to do the tours.

I believe so, though if you speak to someone at the gate, I would imagine they'd be accommodating. The price to ender the East side is around 4-8 pounds, from what I recall.
