Neighbourhood: Trafalgar Square / Embankment
With its iconic Nelson’s Column, majestic oversized lions and brightly-lit fountains, Trafalgar Square is not just considered the heart of this bustling London hub, but the very core of the city itself. Beyond this esteemed gathering place are more famous icons, as well as a disproportionate numbers of the city’s most popular cultural attractions including the National Gallery and many West End theaters. Along the way to these major sites are quiet lanes and antiquated pubs to discover, as well as riverside vistas to enjoy on the embankment. With a calendar full of celebratory events, any time of year is a fine time to visit.

- Ahaan M1 contributionBeing judged for my queer status based on my dressing.Heavens is intended to be a safe place for LGBTQ individuals, but it appears that the security at the door may harbour some form of homophobia (funny, right?). While there are no gender fluid clothes that distinguish us as queer people, it seems as though security is judging us for wearing specific items of everyday apparel. My buddies and I both dress in pretty conventional (if not outright heterosexual attire) apparel as gay men, including myself. We choose not to dress in ostentatious attire of any kind, and that is our personal preference. Just for wearing everyday clothes (not fancy), my female friend, my boyfriend, and I were asked to leave the wait. The reason they gave us was that we weren’t queer and that we weren’t regular customers. I tried to show them videos of me in Heaven to prove that I’m a regular customer and show them my pride parade videos but they said “we don’t wanna see sh*t in your phone” and kicked us out. Please check the security footage as we politely requested them and tried to explain that we are queer people and they were being rude to us. So now the security of Heaven decides who is gay or hetero based on their dressing. Never thought about it. Me being judged for not being Gay just cause i dress very masculine. Wowww … thanks for such experience Heaven. You need to improve your staff/security.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 7 October 2023
- Jane D1 contributionAWFULThe bouncer purposely bumped into me & then proceeded to grab me by the arms so tell me they felt disrespected by something I apparently did 3 or 4 months ago. When I told them I have no idea what you’re talking about & tried to walk away as I was literally going home she only grabbed onto me tighter & decided to get more in face. Her friend just stood in the corner watching. I cannot explain how much of an issue the staff is at this place. It’s really awful I haven’t had a good experience for years. No matter how many times you complain nothing changes I will NEVER return to this establishment.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 15 October 2023
- Daria KLondon, United Kingdom1 contributionoutrageousDisrespectful, outrageous security. I will make sure to take this matter further as it is against any law how they treat people. Every single person working on the door there should be fired. In my whole life I have never been treated this way. That place is nothing what is stands for. Avoid to not ruin yourself a night and in the name of protest for racist arrogant and full of complex horrible human beings calling themselves security. Shame on you!!!Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 21 October 2023
- JoLondon, United Kingdom2 contributionsDisrespectful security stuffDO NOT GO THERE. The security stuff on entrance is disrespectful and extremy rude. In my whole life I have never been treated this way. The 'lady manager' pushed out from queue my friend for nothing after over 1.3h hour waiting. The security guy started shouting at me, because I tried to ask question to understand why my friend was not allowed for entrance, even though I am older then him. I used to go to Heaven before, however went first time with friends whose origin is other than white, I have a strong feeling that this caused issue. I won't back to this club anymore.Visited October 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 29 October 2023
- lils k1 contributionrude, violent security who won’t tell you why you are getting kicked outSh*t place, sh*t security with sh*t morals who weren’t raised right. was having a good night when all of a sudden I got approached by 5 security telling me i need to leave. did absolutely nothing wrong so I walked away from the security. this b then puts me in a headlock dragging my head down. I was asking the whole night what i did wrong. wasn’t getting an answer so i was chatting sh*t to the guards outside. woke up with a bloodshot, swollen eye. i went back a week after to make amends and try get let in. one of the security from that night was so angry just from seeing me she started talking all hostile and pointing her finger at me chatting “you came up to me, get out my face” weird security working a minimum wage job with a power trip… get a f-ing life.Visited November 2023Travelled with friendsWritten 10 November 2023

- Casey S1 contributionTerribleSoooooo disappointed. Me and some friends queued up for OVER AN HOUR to enter, to which upon entry our friends was successful however me and my boyfriend was asked to step aside as it apparently was a “members only” night. Our friends are Infact a gay couple and have no such thing as a membership however was allowed entry as opposed to us. We was supposed to be celebrating our friends 30th birthday however was forced to miss out and get a taxi home. The door staff was nothing but arrogant, dismissive and rude. I have never been spoke to/treated so badly before when we are just trying to enjoy our night/ celebrate a friend’s birthday.Visited December 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 10 December 2023
- Lillo M1 contributionHorrible & Disrespectful securitiesThe security lady ( I believe is from Pakistan or Indian) is very rude and shouting to people with no reason (even if you try to be polite towards her). She is very disrespectful and she uses her power as security to intimidate people threatening about to kick people out from the club. So disappointed this place hired people like that. - Ellen966 contributionsIncredibly rude and inconsiderate staffBouncers are some of the nastiest people I have ever met. One said my friend was intoxicated when she clearly wasn’t and sent us all away. Her colleagues agreed with us that she wasn’t but said they couldn’t do anything because the woman had already made the decision. One told us to come back in 30 minutes and when we did, their colleagues screamed at us for trying to get in again. - Kale B1 contributionAwful experienxeI had a disappointing experience at Heaven in Soho. The staff's rude and disrespectful behavior towards guests, including manhandling someone who was complying with their requests, left a lasting negative impression. Security service needs improvement as they were clearly unaware of the reasoning behind several patrons removal from the venue. Deena and Kay were blatantly disrespectful because they were completely ignorant of the situation but were very aggressive in the way they handled the situation. I would not recommend this venue as it does not represent the welcoming club scene that other London places do.Visited January 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 4 January 2024

If you are female presenting in any way, you will be turned away from this club by security. You will be told it is members and regulars only, but every single male-presenting person will walk straight in. Me (a queer female who is sober), and my friends (also all queer females) went to G-A-Y last night to go and see Scarlet Envy perform. We were all turned away, as were lots of other females in the queue, whilst men waltzed straight past and in. My female friends who were lucky enough to get in had drinks poured all over them inside, and I have had many friends who have been harassed by males in here and the security simply don't care. Please save yourself the trauma and do not give this club or this man your money. It's a heartbreaking experience for any female presenting person, and the only way this will improve is if we all come together and stop attending. This behaviour will never be acceptable in the LGBT+ community and we need to help bring it down.

I was so excited to go to Heaven to celebrate my birthday only to have one of the worst clubbing experiences of my life.
I queued for 2 hours (11pm-1am) and had friends who were at a different point in the queue. My two tall white male friends were let in no questions asked, however the bouncer stopped me and my friend (both people of colour) and asked for our membership cards. When we stated we didn't have membership cards we were told to leave the queue.
The supervisor was extremely rude and misogynistic - I (female) was told to 'let my (male) friend do the talking.' When we questioned why our white friends were let in with no questions asked and why the people of colour were asked for membership cards he said that we trying to tell a 'narrative' because we were upset with the outcome.
The supervisor also said because our friends would total more than 4 people in the club we were deemed a 'security risk.' When I asked for his name there were two different answers given by him and the other bouncers ('Keith' and 'Henry').
My friends and I are NHS staff and I have never personally in my life been spoken to in the way that the bouncers did last night. This is the first time I have felt truly discriminated against, ironically in a LGBT venue. It was truly upsetting, I ended up crying at what was supposed to be my birthday celebration.
I now see from the reviews that others have also experienced misogyny and discrimination from the security at Heaven. I really hope the security staff will be held accountable. This is not okay.

For a club where people are accepted and celebrated for being themselves.. the staff here have a funny way of showing it. Firstly the security guards abuse their power way too much and use it to discriminate against people. There is no other reason beside the fact i was going into this club with my boyfriend as to why they wouldn’t let us in! I was not drunk and was also with my friends but they were let in and me and my boyfriend weren’t for some reason i still would like to know. It’s annoying because when you question what is the reason for not being let in, they turn around and say “that’s the reason”.. what? there isn’t one, you’re just gaslighting and abusing your power because you decided you don’t like people. I was not drunk, i had ID, i was not loud and i was not aggressive. In fact I saw a girl stumbling into the smoking area and no security guards even batted an eye! That’s not even the worst of it because i’ve been to heaven many times but this issue seems to be getting worse. In many of my experiences of being in heaven, some of the bar staff seem make me and my friends who are black wait longer despite being there first and when my friends went to say something, the bar staff would then refuse to serve because of “attitude” ... well we wouldn’t have said anything if we were just fairly treated in the first place. We are literally there before most people and are seen we are waiting and don’t get served just so they can get a reaction from us. Literally this exact pattern. This is a classic form of gaslighting (again) and it’s just not on and some sort of action needs to happen before this issue manifests into something bigger. It’s 2020 and we are still facing discrimination like this... Either you guys need a massive staff turn over or you seriously need to educate your staff members because this kind of behaviour is disgusting and you should all be ashamed.

Rude staff, rude owner. Queued for 90 minutes to get a drink, severely understaffed. Decided to leave and the cloakroom staff were unable to retrieve my bag which required more waiting. We told the owner on the way out who proceeded to mock us and exaggerate and fabricate the complaint to make us sound unreasonable on his social media channel for clout. If you have a lot of staff having to self-isolate perhaps you shouldn’t open every single room and still allow customer numbers to reach full capacity - if management don’t want to do that then don’t be also surprised when your customers aren’t jumping for joy at spending 80% of their time in your venue queuing for a drink, I’d rather have just been told it was at capacity and turned away to save myself from a very miserable night.

Arrived in the cue to meet a group of friends who were already there. My friends are regulars, but this was my first time (I’m new to London). I cued up for 45 mins before arriving at the door. I was just keeping to myself, hadn’t a drop to drink, and I get to the door and they security guard asks “have you been here before?”. I answer, “no it’s my first time”. He said “sorry it’s ‘members’ or ‘regulars’ only and pushes me out of the line without a second thought. I tried to plead that my friends were in there, and he was having none of it. His tone was very threatening even though I was nothing but perfectly polite. There is nothing about this policy on the website, and several people I asked who were smoking and had gotten in just 20 mins prior said it was their first time and they’d not been challenged on it at all. They were all dressed in glitter and crop tops; I wonder if that’s what the club selects for. When I told my friends what happened they were shocked, they had no idea that such a policy existed. I know security guards deal with a lot of nonsense, which is why I always make sure to behave and be extra polite and grateful to the security staff whenever I go out. You’d like to think that they would reward that sort of courtesy, but from what I could see there was little to not correlation between how drunk, rude, or unruly you were and whether or not you got in. I’m a bi guy, I was wearing black jeans, Chelsea boots and a pea coat, and frankly if they didn’t want my generic look in there I’d just wish they’d say something on the website. I get that it’s annoying to some people that straight people are super involved in everything now, but since when did we solve that problem by resorting to the discriminatory tactics that were used against this community which first inspired this club to be built? It’s a real shame. I travelled an hour from north London to go, and after freezing my bum off for close to an hour, it was pretty rubbish to be turned away like that. I hope they pay attention to these reviews and have a think about how they can do things differently. I saw those phones breathalyzers, and as a criminal lawyer, I was pretty appalled by the illegal brute force used to get people to blow into the device...

This classy subculture nightclub is best enjoyed during the summer months and what a great nightclub it is. Inside you will find approximately four rooms, R&B, MAIN Dancefloor, Side Dancefloor, Departure Lounge and in every room is a different taste for music including a movie inside the side dancefloor on some nights for example Thursday night or Friday night, not sure which night. The friendly bar staff get nowhere near enough tips but enough to do a good budgeting skill so don't worry if you're not kind to the bar staff they'll love you anyway. Heaven put effort into their bar staff in a roundabout way, they hire mostly gays and lesbians and were fabulous so come to heaven nightclub for the world's best nightclub and join the Monday night crew for straight and gay night then into the vauxhall to desire etc where the dancing continues long into Tuesday morning, you can show your mates you dancing while they're getting ready for work. Book every Tuesday off work, Monday night dancers are the best clubbers and it's mixed gay and straight, fun, fun, fun. Are we human or are we dancers?

''£4 to get in, sums it up, Low ticket price , low class, dirty, terrible toilets, this is a desperate place that plays good music'' this was someones review and I couldnt have agreed any more...!!
If you care about yourself avoid going to HEAVEN, there are plenty of other gay clubs in London which deserve your time and be happy to have you. The last thing you want is to be refused entry in such a place that aint even worth in the first place.
Also if they dont feel you look gay enough they wont allow you entry, so you better glitter and glam yourself before you go there.

Racist, aggravating and embarrassing door policies, anyone that doesn’t look obviously gay is almost provoked into arguing with the door staff so they can use that as an excuse to not let them in.
Black gay men that don’t dress “flamboyant” or almost “fem” are consistently stopped or almost harassed at the entrances from coming in because we are seen as a threat if we’re not “feminine” or “camp” or
dressed as such....and I’m not talking about typica street-wear like hoods, trainers or tracksuits, I’m talking about plain old blacks jeans, boots and a puffer jacket. The 4/5 times from 2018 onwards we have tried entering we have been stopped by door staff for random offensive things, for example “looking high”, “not being gay” “looking like we’re in the wrong place’ and lastly “there’s an urban club somewhere else in soho”
I’ve seen this happen to other black/brown gay men in the queue ahead of us and it happen to some
Black/brown women as plenty as well.
One of the security guards- Roger is rude, argumentative and is a clear bully.
This is not a gay friendly place for POC, they clearly only want patrons who look like they would not look intimidating or aggressive or fits their idea mould of “LGBT” in this establishment and apparently black/brown gay men aren’t apart of that criteria.
So f**k this place and it’s door staff and the management that KNOW this is happening and probably set the tone for this to happen.

Security were purely the reason for my low rating, unprofessional, aggressive and quite frankly rude. Singled out one of my friends for no reason and argued that she was pissed and should not be allowed into the club, when she was perfectly fine to do so. They did not stamp my hand meaning I was stopped when coming back in from the smoking area and refused entry, even though I had already paid the entry fee of £12!
Music was good and the club goers were great, but all in all my experience was tainted by the awful security guards and am hesitant to return expecting the same behaviour again.

avoid at all costs. We waited in line for over an hour, quietly and respectfully, and had our ID checked a couple times. When we got to the doors, a woman in a beanie asked my female friend who she was with, to which she pointed at me and another male friend. They looked us up and down and then said ‘where’s your membership card?’ to which we were confused. We said we did not have one and to which she replied ‘members and regulars only’. We tried to ask what she meant to which she shouted aggressively ‘MOVE OUT THE QUEUE’ to which we got pushed to the side and out of the queue. We tried to ask another security guard what was going on and he said ‘how often do you come here?’ to which we said a few times but obviously not often recently seeing as we’re in a PANDEMIC. He then said there’s nothing he can do and another security guard said he was ‘too busy to talk to us’. The groups of men in front and behind us got in without any of these questions. After talking to others it seems that they only mostly let visibly gay white men in, which is discrimination, especially as it’s meant to be a club that represents inclusivity. It completely ruined our night as we had wasted so much time in the queue and now were unsure where to go. If you’re a femme woman especially, avoid this place at all costs.

There's no dress-code per se, so you should be fine with trainers. However, the door staff here are well known for arbitrarily turning people away for all sorts of spurious reasons, mainly on the pretext of 'being too drunk', so whilst I think trainers will be fine, be aware of how you present yourself at the door.

For Heaven the nightclub, it’s 18+ with government issued photo ID.
For events and gigs, the organisers will give the minimum age on their listings.

Hi, I'm completely new to the London night life and wanted to check that Heaven do tickets on the door, or if it's much better in practice to get the wristband from G-A-Y and come back?
Written 28 November 2018
Welcome to London, unless you have valid ID that is going to guarantee you enter then you can do either.
But you would have a better time at GAY late bar. If you do still want to go to Heaven I hope your prepared for it. Everyone’s experience is different but I have never enjoyed it there. Save you time and enjoy Soho area instead. Loads of bars, loads of fit guys and a much better experience. Check out the Village bar and The Yard. If your a smoker it’s not much fun. GAY and GAY late Is amazing. If your too drunk and get to Heaven they will BREATHALYSER YOU!! And if your too drunk, not gay looking or they just do t want you to get in they will deny you entry. Enjoy London, stay safe and Good luck newbie.

The only other ID we can accept is a PASS logo photo ID. These are available for under £20 online. If the passport isn’t too out of date, we can look at that if you’re clearly over 25. Thanks.
