This Library is a fusion of Bibliography. Very old world externally, but very modernistic in its contents. Whilst there in its hallowed halls, I saw some of the most wondrous tomes. I would thoroughly recommend a visit to the Central to all serious book lovers.

You must visit the reading room which is all original. Really breathtaking. You feel transported to the age of Sherlock Holmes!!

One of the best libraries I have been in ...what a perfect mix of old and new brought together..other cities should copy this spent hours in here and I'm not a bookworm

Simply breathtaking inside ..... you can spend hours here and there is a large coffee / deli shop. And Ian Rankin is coming for an evening on October 15th ..... grab a ticket if you can as there will be a panel of murderous professionals...More

A visit to the Picton Reading Room was recommended to us and it really was worth while. You are free to wander (quietly!)round including the gallery. Free entry.

It's 10p per bw side of A4 paper. 20p for bw A3 per side and 40p per A4 side of color and £1.00 for A3 per side.

You need to take proof of ID with an address. E.G. Driving Licensce or a utility bill / bank statement etc. Its dead easy and takes a couple of mins and you get your library card on the spot. There is a choice of Library... More
