My review can really only be attributed to the perfect weather we experienced when traveling up Orrest Head, but gosh was it worth the effort! The views were STUNNING. Be warned there are steep segments of the walk, but even unfit people should be able...More

We chose late afternoon/early evening and it was just too late, enjoyed the walk but views were not so great, on a clearer afternoon can see they would be worthwhile.

Meal served promptly and of good quality. Manager very sociable and made us welcome. This was an ideal rest and eating place prior to booking in at the hotel next door.

A short walk from Windermere station takes you to the summit of Orret Head amd you'll be pleased you did it. Fantastic panoramic views of more or less the whole lake can be seen from the relatively easy accessed paths.

A short walk up the hill is well worth the effort for the amazing view. Stick to the main path sections and let the children take more exciting paths through the woods

First visit to Windermere and in the pouring rain this walk was a nice easy one! It’s nothing compared to other fell walks and goes up through some woods, which I’m sure children would love to run around in. Only takes about 20 minutes to...More

You can get to this view point with just a little climb and views are great over Windermere. The path/trail starts from near the Windermere station.

It is probably a lot less muddy than when I visited in January but the terrain was quite steep and uneven in places and I wouldn’t take a buggy.

There is parking opposite the entrance to the walk, as far as i am aware it is free street parking. I parked there for most of the day and did not get a ticket, just outside some guest houses.

There are two main ways up to Orrest Head. One is paved for all but the very top, the other is across fields & through woods and can be a bit muddy in places if the weather has been wet recently, so sufficient footwear is... More
