We started with The Coffin Trail from Grasmere then walked along to the path and bridge leading around Rydal Water, such a lovely walk, the lake and scenery is beautiful, we went back and walked around it a couple of days later and loved it...More

Came with family it is a great walk to the lake then spend your day relaxing watching the ducks in the lake and hearing the wild life around. We walked up the hill parts to find a cave kids loved it.

The walk between Grasmere and Ambleside is an excellent easy walk. You can pass Rydal caves and also have a nice swim in Rydal water - highly recommended!

A superb lake to view from above, either from the coffin trail, across the main road, or from Lothrigg Terrace. Also a superb walk along the Lake approaching from the main road opposite the junction up to Rydal Mount and walking towards Grasmere. Simply beautiful.

We did a lovely walk with our dog on a nice sunny day. Halfway point was a drink at a pub. Nice scenery. The walk was mostly flat with a couple of high points with good views

We visited on a rainy day but didn't stop us going for a walk. Rydal Water is picturesque even when gloomy skies. The walk to the caves is well signposted, rocky path at times. We found a little stream on the walk up and decided...More

Lovely walk round rydal water and up to rydal caves. Steep in places but worth the effort. Unfortunately car parking difficult as in most places in area. Very limited spaces. Would advise going early.

Yes there are stepping stones into the biggest cave. The other one requires climbing with a rope.

Hi, I am currently being chased by Park with Ease for a £50 parking fine. They claim I did not pay for parking, however I deposited my cash into the machine TWICE and on both occasions the machine took my payment and would not allow me to proceed to the stage where I could enter my registration. I spent about 20 minutes at the machine wth my family, attempting to contact / find a contact from the signage and repay (although I refused to deposit any more cash). I was so exasperated that I even filmed myself trying to make the payment and the machine not allowing me enter my Car registration. However, after not hearing anything for over 6 months I regretably deleted the video- only to receive a parking fine a couple of weeks later. I can not retrieve the video from my phone and am very angry about being pursued for 'lack of payment' when I actually paid twice. I am currently appealing the case with the IPC but am not hopeful. Does anybody have any up to date photographs of the actual car park signage on White Moss car park on Rydal Water? This incident has certainly put me off ever parking on this car park again and given the amount of complaints about Park with Ease (Administrators of the car park) that I have seen on the internet I think the appropriate council for the area containing Rydal Water, should investigate the poor running of the car park, to protect the visitors from scammers!

Sorry I was thinking of Derwent Water.. Rydal yes very doable with a sling, Can get the pram a good distance but higher up you go the steeper and there is also pebble and loose bricks path towards the caves.
