Only open on a Monday with our visit directed by a Guide who turned out to be both entertaining and informative. ""Not the National Trust" she proudly told us. "We like it the way it is". The house is indeed in need of restoration and...More

We visited as members of historic houses so didn't pay to get in, it is well worth the £6 admission price though. The owner and guides were friendly and welcoming. A guide took myself and my husband around the hall, she was knowledgeable and brought...More

We visited here today with friends and it was such a pleasure because the young guide was so knowledgable about all the contents. It is open on a Monday afternoon and the conne tions with history, family and Jane Eyre are of great interest. The...More

Interesting place, excellent guides. Feels like a home full of history and character, it's going to be restored gradually.

Lovely old house with Pele tower many feet thick, designed to keep out the marauding Border Rievers. The whole family and all their cattle and horses were herded into them for protection. Many interesting things to see, porcelain, paintings, craft items.

This is a little gem. Nestled above the beautiful Isel church the volunteers help to make this a very enjoyable visit. Sadly, due to circumstances beyond their control, they were not allowed to sell the postcards or guide books. This was the only thing that...More

We had an interesting guided tour around Isel Hall which is set in beautiful countryside away from any neighbouring properties. Over the years, Isel Hall has had various alterations to blend in with the existing property at the time. Whilst the property was inhabited until...More
