We arrived in Ambleside at midday and wanted something to do for a few hours. We decided to walk up to the waterfall. It was a steep walk, somewhat muddy but with a pair of walking boots you'll be fine. Beautiful waterfalls, lovely scenery and...More

Beautiful waterfall at the end of a lovely circular route from Waterhead via Jenkin Crag and Wansfell Pike. Worth a visit after a good amount of rainfall as the volume of water is spectacular! Good footwear is also a good idea and definitely bring a...More

Stock Ghyll is an easy walk up from Ambleside and well worth visiting, especially after the rains. As you walk up, the signs will direct you up a footpath running alongside the river. The path is quite rough and wet, if you have any mobility...More

Lovely little waterfall especially after rain. Th first bit of the path is ok for pushchairs etc but further up is really only suitable for the more able, being muddy (obviously!) and uneven underfoot. It's not steep but a little rocky with some tree roots...More

This waterfall is an easy walk up from the town, taking about 15-20 minutes . I'm not the best walker but I managed it well and there is an easy path back down to the Salutation Hotel. Well worth a visit when in Ambleside.

Pleasant little waterfall that's not too hard to get to. The walk is a bit of a climb and the path is quite rocky and muddy, but if you're comfortable with that then it's worth a visit. The path is easy to follow and there's...More
