We passed this attractive waterfall on our walk from Elterwater village to Skelwith Bridge. The all weather path runs alongside the river and is relatively flat, making it ideal for pushchairs or disability scooters. Parking at Elterwater (payable National Trust) at Elterwater and a coffee...More

A walk to Elterwater from Skelwith Bridge is one of our more regular walks in the Lakes and we used to very much enjoy a trip to Chesters before it changed. The cake is still good though. We took a different route this time and...More

The River is very full this year and I have never seen so much water pouring down Skelwith Force-quite dramatic.

Walked past here recently and you can walk right up over the rocks to the edge. It had rained quite heavily prior to our walk so the falls were really flowing quite fast! Great views!

We Parked at the silverwhaite carpark which is free for first 20 minutes. You can see the waterfall and be back in less than 20 minutes but the walk next to the river to Elterwater is so peaceful and a stunning setting on an open...More

We loved how "unknown" Skelwith felt. When walking, it was uncommon to pass anyone else. You can walk right to the edge of the falls across uneven rocks if you want, which was fun. We walked all the way from the waterfall to Elterwater and...More
