First time mountain walk for my 10 year old son and my wife. Both loved it at the end and felt proud to complete it. Challenging in places but overall not too bad. Started from Keswick to Underskiddaw carpark around Latrigg. Ascended old man first,...More

There are various routes to Skiddaw via Carl Side, Bakestall or the main road from the Gale Road car park which fills up very quickly and you then get inconsiderate parking on Gale Road, (so bad an ambulance couldn't get through). All of the ascents...More

This was my first mountain walk in the Lake District and I wasn't disappointed. It's very easy to navigate, the path is clear the whole way up and there were lots of people doing the walk on the day we did it. We did the...More

On a clear day the views from the top are absolutely spectacular. You can see a majority of the other mountain s and peaks plus the beautiful landscape and scenery in the surrounding valleys. The walk up can be strenuous in parts but people of...More

We parked a little way from the base of the mountain and was glad that we did as lots of people spent ages trying to park their cars at the base - so maybe make this decision based on the time of day/year that you...More

Staying at Applethwaite and drove up to Skiddaw. Due to the snow, we could not get through, so parked at the side of the road and walked to the top. Very peaceful with great views. Highly recommended.

Me and my boyfriend attempted climbing mount skiddaw this weekend and it was hard to say the least! Firstly the mountain is so steep it makes it difficult to even climb, nevermind the constant mud/ice/ snow taking up the walk way making it extremely slippy....More

You can drive to the base of the mountain. Walk through the gate and turn left and you are on your way. It’s a constant slog and it doesn’t relent very much. On the plus side it’s not long to get to the summit and...More

There is a large, public car park directly behind your hotel. I believe that the hotel issues parking permits at a rate of £2 per 24 hours. Check the hotel website. Finding a parking space can be difficult at certain times... More

The route from Latrigg is straightforward but not boring. However there are more interesting ways. I like the route that takes in Ling How, The Edge, Ullock Pike, Longside Edge, Long Side, Carl Side, and Skiddaw summit,

Skiddaw needs proper commercial development. Take a look at the website for the Nevis Range in Scotland and note the mountain gondola.
