The tunnels were constructed in 1940/41 as accommodation for the gun battery above. Today this network of abandoned tunnels is virtually all that remains of these long forgotten defences. You can take a journey into the past on a guided tour of the tunnels with one of our expert volunteers, peering into the darkness and back in time into different world, hidden within the cliffs.

Spent a day at the White Cliffs of Dover. The first thing we did was visit the Fan Bay Deep Shelter. What an experience. Staff friendly, knowledgeable. A must do experience.

I wasn't sure before I got there. But the welcome was great and our guide, Don, brought everything to life for us all including the children in our group.

This is a fun short tour of the shelter built for WWII. Some of the photos are misleading, there is nothing inside (no beds, lockers, etc). Our guide was interesting and engaging.

Hi there, All tickets for Fan Bay are sold on the day at Fan Bay itself, although you can enquire at the Visitor Centre as to whether or not there are any spaces available. I hope that helps.
