This is a lovely little memorial to a major world event. The concrete plane outline marks the spot where Bleriot came back to earth after flying from france. One of the first major landwarks fo aviation located in a nice piece of woodland with some...More

A lot of years ago, before "they" put a nice path down here and jazzed it up with all that wood, I used to take American visitors here. Against all doubts we battled our way through the brambles to find this humble monument to a...More

Worth a visit if you are passing, also nice for a walk around as the area is wooded and pretty. Situated just to the north of the castle the Bleroit Memorial is just off the main Deal/Dover Road and has ample parking. It is open...More

We took foreign visitors to see the memorial and none of us were impressed. It is OK to have a quick look at in passing, although they have arranged seating there and the pathways are supposed to represent vapour trails.

I had forgotten that this is the the spot where Louis Bleriot (crash) landed all those years ago, so it was great to be able to visit. It's a simple but effective memorial, a little tricky to find.... drive slowly and you'll find it easily....More

Not the easiest place to find. Poor, almost non-existent, signage that I'm sure would be better had the chap been British. November-time so down a leaf strewn path through trees to this Memorial for the successful 1909 flight by Mr Bleriot. Worth going for a...More

It is an interesting memorial to the first man to cross the Channel by plane in 1909. If you have time, google earth first to see exactly why he landed there; it is the closest place after you cross the White Cliffs and Dover Castle...More

Its just an impression on the ground where the plane landed many years ago. Nice that its kept as a memorial to the early pioneers of flight. Car park is a little walk away, I was concerned about the safety of my car.

A very simple memorial showing where Louis Bleriot crashed after the first successful Channel flight. Note he didn't land, he did crash, showing how much of a pioneer those days were. Luckily he did survive. Worth the visit if in the area.
